Test Ride

Specialized Test Ride Bikes have arrived.

Stop in to check them out or give us a call to schedule a test ride.  This gives you the opportunity to take the bike to your favorite riding spot and put it to a true test, not just a ride around the parking lot.

For nearly two decades, Specialized has defined product innovation and perfected their revolutionary FSR suspension system. FSR suspension is known worldwide as one of the most popular suspension systems and is often copied by the competition. FSR suspension is fully active and completely independent of braking and pedaling forces. Whether you are riding up a hill or bombing down one, FSR delivers the pinnacle in comfort, control and pedaliing efficiency.

Specialized carries their suspension technology through many models in the product line up. Jump on a Stumpjumper FSR series bike for a unparalleled trail experience or experience the race-worthy efficiency of one of the Epic series bikes. Rock n' Road Cyclery is an authorized Specialized FSR Test Center and we're ready to set you up on a demo ride to try before you buy!

Demo fee $50/Day
Note:  All fees can be applied toward the purchase of a new bike for up to 60 days.

Take aerodynamics to a whole new level!

Specialized's Fusée Star Wheelset is exceptionally aerodynamic and also handles nicely in crosswinds. The secret is the Star hub, which yields 50% less frontal area than traditional hubs for a greater aero advantage than even tri-spoke wheels. Paired with the low-profile, seamless-aluminum aero rims, the hubs further fortifiy the wheels while increasing your pedaling efficiency, too, with incredible lateral rigidity. These wind-cheaters also boast custom DT AeroLite spokes with hidden nipples for even more free speed. And as an authorized Specialized STAR Test Center we're all set-up to let you try before you buy!

Mavic R-SYS Demo Wheels.

(MV and LN only) This particular R-SYS wheel brings out a revolutionary concept named TraComp technology on its spoke’s mount. Those spokes are tubular and made of super light and non stretchable carbon fiber and are fixed in the hub with a removable ring and screwed in the rim to prevent any movements in any direction.

The point is: they work both in traction (pulling), as on any other existing wheel, but in compression too, absorbing load tension without excessive distortion such as regular spokes. This innovative concept raises the lateral rigidity up to 30 % more (one third!) compared to a classic wheelset due to no stretched spoke tension and no deflection under load either. This rigidity rise, to sprint and accelerate like a rocket, is unique on such a light wheel which weights 1355 g a pair.

The R-SYS, developed for 1,5 year, already performed during real test conditions at the African Tour du Burkina Faso and the Giro D’Italia with Gilberto Simoni (Saunier Duval Prodir team). And as an authorized Mavic R-SYS Test Center we're all set-up to let you try before you buy!

Demo fee $30/Day

Reserve and Ride a demo bike/wheels at Rock N' Road

Here's how to reserve and ride a Rock N' Road Cyclery demo bike/wheels for ONE full day (24 hours).

  1. Reserve a Rock N' Road Cyclery demo bike/wheels for yourself.  Visit or call us to inquire about making a demo bike/wheels appointment. You can reserve a particular model/size bike and wheels for one day.
  2. Come to Rock N' Road Cyclery on your demo-appointment day.  Bring a credit card, current photo ID, means to transport the bike safely, your bike helmet (required for the demo program), and a sense of adventure.
  3. Fill out some paperwork. We'll also review the bike's current condition with you.  You may be charged later for any damages to the bike/wheels while you have it.  We'll take an imprint of your credit card and run a credit authorization-check. (But we won't charge your account.)
  4. Pay your $50/$30 demo-service fee.  Your demo fee must be paid in advance; you can pay by credit card, check, or cash.  Note that your demo-service fee is refundable toward any Rock N' Road Cyclery bicycle/wheels purchase within the next 60 days. Just save your Rock N' Road Cyclery demo cash-register receipt. (We can only rebate demo fees with receipts.)
  5. Make adjustments to the bike/wheels.  We'll adjust the demo bike/wheels for your body geometry and riding preferences.
  6. Review the bike's equipment and features.  We'll then review how the bike works with you – to make sure you have fun riding it for the day.
  7. Make arrangements to return the bike/wheels to us.  We ask that you bring back the bike/wheels within 24 hours of checking it out.  We'll try to accommodate your schedule when returning the bike.
  8. Take the bike/wheels "out there" and have a great time.  The rest of the experience is really up to you and our demo bike/wheels! We only ask that you ride responsibly.  (Feel free to ask us about great local places to try out the bike/wheels.)
  9. Return the bike to Rock N' Road Cyclery when it's due back.  Please bring back the demo bike on time. Note that we charge a late fee of $10/hour, up to $75/day, which is not refundable. We'll also inspect the bike/wheels with you upon check-in and assess any new damages. (We'll then clean up and prep the bike/wheels for our next demo customer.)
  10. Tell us how the demo went for you.  As always, we look forward to hearing your demo-biking stories.  We're here to serve all your current (and future) biking needs and desires!
  11. Save your demo receipt and get a rebate.  Remember that your $50/$30 demo-service fee is refundable with your next Rock N' Road Cyclery bike/wheels purchase (within 60 days) – like maybe on that cool new bike/wheels you've been trying out?
