The "Beat Hunger" ride Saturday at our Irvine store was a huge success! 70+ riders showed up to help fight hunger & get a chance to out pedal Matt, one of Rock N' Road's Owners through the canyon. By the end of the day the 2 barrels reserved to hold all the canned good contributions, were spilling out on the the floor. Thank you to all the riders who joined & contributed to our 2nd Annual Food Drive, we appreciate your support.

Rock N Road Cyclery hosted another phenomenal women's only event on Oct. 23, 2008.
The night included guest speaker Amber Neben, a fundraising raffle for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and unprecedented shopping discounts. This Diva Night, the fifth for RnR, had approximately 120 women in attendance!
World Time Trial Champion Amber Neben kicked off the night sharing the struggles and victories of her cycling history. Amber then graciously answered questions from the audience concerning both her personal and professional life.
"Thanks again, you all put on such a fun night," said Diva Jan Ackerman. "I really enjoyed hearing Amber talk."
Following Amber, the raffle to benefit Susan G. Komen had prizes such as diamond earrings, a cruiser and a road bike (just to name a few). RnR raised over $1,500 from the raffle and will be donating it to the foundation. Rock N Road would like to thank all the sponsors for their generous donations to the raffle.
The Diva crew also unveiled the new Diva Jersey, which can be purchased at any of the RnR locations.

Download PDF for more info on this eventOn Sept. 30, Rock N Road Cyclery in Laguna Niguel housed over 20 women for a Diva bike maintenance clinic.
With four expert mechanics coaching them, the women had hands on experience working on the bikes brought in by their fellow Divas. Topics covered included how to fix a flat, properly care for a bike and handle emergency mechanical situations. There was also a question and answer period at the end to ensure everyone felt complete in their bike maintenance knowledge.
"I love the Diva group and that Rock N Road puts on so many events that really benefit women's cycling," said Diane Parks about the clinic.
Look for more skills and maintenance clinics in the months to come. The RnR Divas are dedicated to the growth of women's cycling.

Diva Night
After launching its women’s group (Rock N’ Road Divas) in March of last year, Rock N’ Road Cyclery just hosted its fourth successful event on Thursday, March 20th at the Mission Viejo location.
The night began with a challenge. Women in the group were given the rules to the Diva Jersey Design Contest. Women are to submit their jersey designs using their own artwork and the winner will see her name printed on all future jerseys made. Entries are due on April 4 to the Rock N’ Road, Mission Viejo location. Please contact Nicky at Nicky@rocknroadcyclery.net or at the Irvine location with any questions. The staff emphasized being creative and having fun!
The featured speaker of the night, Bernice Pierson, began her speech by introducing herself as an adventure racer, and an adventure racer she is! Bernice’s slideshow presentation mixed inspirational quotes with real life footage of the travels and races she has competed in all over the world. Having participated in numerous races, events and even television programs, Bernice inspired the audience with her main message to just “make the decision” and go for it- whatever “it” may be for each individual.
Next up was a humorous and fun fashion show displaying the latest fashions from Specialized, Sheila Moon, Fox and Twin Six for the 2008 Spring Season. The audience roared as the two male escorts livened up the show.
Following the fashion, the women got down to business with a flat fixing contest. Three teams of two competed to change a flat tire the fastest. The parameters of the competition were that one woman had to be an expert flat fixer while the other had never fixed a flat in her life. The twist of the event was that the expert had to instruct the rookie how to fix the flat without touching the tire or wheel herself. The excitement mounted as the winners prevailed just seconds before the other teams.
Rounding out the night were great raffle prizes, specifically a brand new Specialized Dolce road bike for the grand prize winner, Anna Flowers of Rancho Santa Margarita!
Rock N’ Road enjoys its role of bringing the women’s cycling community together for fitness, education and fun. Look for this group to continue to grow and do great things for female cyclists.
