2010 was Allison’s second season racing Pro. She began the year in strong fashion finishing 4th in XC at the US Cup Triple Crown at Bonelli Park and 5th in XC at the Pro XCT Fontana National in March. After missing Sea Otter Classic she was able to finish 5th at the Pro XCT Mellow Johnny’s in May. Despite a few injury setbacks in the lead up to the US Mountain Bike Nationals Allison had a strong weekend finishing 8th in XC and 3rd in Super D. In early August she was selected to represent the USA at the UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships at Mont Sainte Anne in Quebec, Canada. Upon returning home, she repeated as California State Champion at Bonelli Park, and began racing local cyclocross races to finish out the 2010 season in good form and ready for 2011.
She started out 2009 in CAT1, but quickly upgraded to the elite ranks after a convincing win at the US Kenda Cup West Bonelli Park. Allison’s first Pro race was at the Pro XC Tour Fontana National in March 2009 where she finished a surprising 10th place. Following Fontana, Allison finished 2nd behind Pua Sawicki at Sagebrush Safari, and 14th at Sea Otter Classic. After a strong spring, she went in to the summer races with a lot to learn, and finished strong with a 14th and 13th place at Pro XCT Mount Snow, VT and Windham, NY (respectively). At the end of her first year she was California State Champion, had stepped atop the pro podium at the US CupUnification race, taken 12th overall in the Pro XCT and 2nd in the Kenda Cup Series. Looking ahead Allison hopes to build on her strong first season as a Pro and continue to learn and grow as a rider and racer.
Throughout 2007 and 2008 Allison was primarily a weekend warrior traveling to Crested Butte, Moab, Whistler, Fruita, and Brianhead for fun group rides and downhill shuttles. After full weekends of both XCand DH races at the NMBS events in 2008 at Fontana, Sea Otter, and Santa Ynez Allison decided to stick to XC racing and in the fall of 2008 got serious about laying out a training plan and training 5-6 days a week for the 2009 season.
Allison got a late start in life riding mountain bikes when in late 2005 she and her husband, Justin, purchased Specialized mountain bikes as a way to get outdoors and gain some fitness. The two had previously raced gas powered R/C (radio controlled) cars in Southern California after graduating from college in 2002.
Currently Allison, works full time at a medical device manufacturer in Temecula, CA. She and her husband can be found most days training together on their lunch breaks and just about any other time they can squeeze a ride in. When they aren’t on their bikes, the couple enjoys cooking healthy and tasty food, something that helps tremendously with their training, racing part time, and general health.
